WARSAW — The date for an election board hearing over a complaint lodged about a campaign yard sign has been moved up.

Republican Prairie Township Trustee Julia Goon filed the complaint and contends the use of the words “re-elect” in Tyler Huffer’s yard signs are a misrepresentation.

Huffer was appointed by a Republican caucus to serve as coroner.

Goon argues he was appointed by caucus.

Huffer contends he checked ahead about the issue and said he looks forward to what the election board has to say.

Huffer faces Tracy Cutler-Wilson in the Republican primary.

The election board hearing had been planned for April 10, but both Huffer and Goon sought to move up the date, said County Clerk Ann Torpy.

The new hearing date will be 10 a.m. Friday March 22 at the county clerk’s office.

The primary is May 7.
