Howe travel plaza opens as part of replacement project

A new full-service pit stop has been unveiled to help travelers re-charge and re-fuel.

All eight travel plazas will be seeing reconstruction in the Hoosier state as part of the mission for “a better, safer Indiana Toll Road”.

The grand opening of the Howe Travel Plazas was Wednesday. The East and Westbound plazas were celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to WNDU.

The travel plaza work marks the first updates since the Toll Road began operating in 1956.

Rolling Prairie travel plaza will be the next to receive upgrades. Its slated to open in 2018.

The Indiana Toll Road Concession Company is spending roughly $70 million on the entire plaza replacement project.
