A rate hike for Indiana American Water customers goes into effect Monday.
The July 1 increase is 1.99 percent, with a second increase of 5.79 percent set for May of 2020.
Most of the company’s residential customers using 4,000 gallons of water each month will see their bill go up by about 34 cents per month after today’s increase, then an additional $2.22 when the second step is implemented.
Indiana American Water says the new rates will pay for more than $542 million in infrastructure improvements.
