Indiana Drug Addiction Grant Concerns

Agencies that help Indiana residents fight drug addiction say they're worried that a loss of federal funding will hurt their clients and employees. The state has received more than three million dollars through the Access to Recovery program in the last four years. The program focuses on people battling poverty, military veterans and those in the criminal justice system. Only six states received money this year, compared with 30 states and Native American tribes in the last grant cycle. The grants are distributed through nearly a dozen counties. More than 11,000 residents have received help through the grants since 2010.
