Another powerful GOP leader has joined social conservatives’ fight against proposed changes to the Indiana Republican Party’s platform that would drop wording that favors “marriage between a man and a woman.”
The Republican Victory Committee said Wednesday that House Speaker Brian Bosma opposes the wording changes, which are friendly to same-sex couples and were pushed by Gov. Eric Holcomb’s hand-picked GOP chairman.
The group says on its website that the GOP leadership should leave the platform alone. But it also warns that it will fight to keep the current platform language “in support of marriage” if things go into the other direction.
State Republican party Chairman Kyle Hupfer says delegates are the “ultimate and final decision makers” on the platform language. A vote is scheduled on Saturday.
