INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana lawmakers have days to decide whether to keep certain contentious bills alive during this legislative session.
The deadline is Wednesday to move bills from one chamber to the next and several major bills have yet to move.
That will require a vote on the House GOP’s roads funding plan that would increase the gas tax by four cents a gallon while raising the cost of cigarettes by $1 a pack.
The Senate is expected to vote on a bill that would establish civil rights protections for gays and lesbians, but does not address protections transgender people.
Both chambers have measures that seek to curtail meth manufacturing by restricting the sales on otherwise over-the-counter cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine — a key meth ingredient.
