Indiana, Purdue Universities to continue operating Office of Engagement

Indiana and Purdue Universities may be going their separate ways in Fort Wayne, but they’ll still be working together.

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will cease to be on July 1st of 2018. The schools are splitting the campus, with Purdue taking over everything but health science classes.

However, University officials announced Tuesday that a 12-year partnership between the two will continue, as their joint Office of Engagement will remain on the Fort Wayne campus.

IPFW’s Carl Drummond calls the office an “important collaboration between northeast Indiana businesses” and the two universities, with a focus on economic growth and business development.

“The mission has been to leverage university resources in order to facilitate technology transfer, innovative business development, and economic growth in the region. We look forward to continuing that partnership in the years to come.”

Since its creation in 2006, the office has developed a portfolio of more than 700 businesses around the region.
