Indiana woman dies in Arizona hot air balloon crash Sunday

ELOY, Ariz. (AP) — Four people were killed and another critically injured after a hot air balloon crash Sunday morning near Eloy, Arizona, authorities said.

One of the four who died is from Indiana.

Television station KNXV reported the family of Katie Bartrom, 28, identified her as one of the people who died in the incident.

Bartrom was a registered nurse from Indiana who loved skydiving and adventure, her mother Jennifer Hubartt told KNXV.

Eloy police said the crash occurred about 7:50 a.m. Sunday in a rural desert area about 60 miles south of Phoenix.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
