Indianapolis man pleads guilty to raping Indiana University student

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to breaking into an apartment shared by Indiana University students and raping one of them while holding a gun to her head.

Twenty-year-old Michael W.L. Deweese pleaded guilty to 15 counts Wednesday: seven counts of rape, attempted murder, burglary while armed, two counts of armed robbery, three counts of criminal confinement with injury and resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon.

The (Bloomington) Herald-Times reports one charge could be dismissed if a judge accepts the plea agreement.

It’s not clear how much prison time Deweese faces under a plea agreement with Monroe County prosecutors.

Deweese was shot in the leg by a policeman after he and a second suspect allegedly fled the victims’ apartment near the campus.
