Insanity Defense Planned In 2-Year-Old’s Murder

A Warsaw man accused of killing a 2-year-old girl will attempt to use an insanity defense in the murder case.
Christopher Grimmett, 30, last known address of 53 EMS C17 Lane, Warsaw, filed a notice of a insanity defense Wednesday in Kosciusko Circuit Court. He is still being held in the county jail without bond.
A hearing on the notice, and a petition for a psychiatric evaluation, was scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday in front of Judge Michael Reed.
Police say Grimmett confessed to beating Adalin?Stamper to death and burying her in the back yard at his brother’s house at 1835 Sue Ave.
Grimmett was arrested Nov. 11.
Murder carries a potential penalty of 45 to 65 years in prison.
