IPFW eliminating several programs amid restructuring

FORT WAYNE — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne is restructuring, getting rid of several departments and degree programs.

The Journal Gazette reports that university officials told the campus that starting January 1st the Geology, Philosophy and Women’s Studies programs will be eliminated, while the French and German degree programs will be suspended.

This comes on the heels of a meeting between IPFW and Purdue officials last week, in which Purdue’s board of trustees pushed for “significant changes” ahead of a December decision on whether or not to realign the school into two separate entities, run by Indiana University and Purdue respectively.

One employee told the paper that faculty members are “livid” with the move.
