INDIANAPOLIS (AP): The departing president of Indiana’s community college system says there’s much work to be done in its future.
Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder leaves this year. His nine-year tenure overseeing its more than 30 campuses around the state has included big enrollment swings and persistently low graduation rates.
He says the legacy he leaves behind “is there’s a lot of work to be done.”
The Indianapolis Star reports the school’s trustees are expected to pick the new president in May from among three finalists, which the school has declined to name publicly.
Former Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann has been regarded as a leading candidate for Ivy Tech president. Gov. Mike Pence appoints the school’s trustees and reiterated his support for Ellspermann when she resigned in March.
