Joy Carlson honored by Salvation Army

WARSAW — Joy Carlson was presented the Women’s Auxiliary Award of Excellence at the group’s annual luncheon on Monday, May 20.
The nationally approved award of the Salvation Army may be presented to an outstanding member of at least ten years, whose influence in community life, support of Salvation Army endeavors, and leadership qualities are of the highest caliber and reflect the spirit and service of The Salvation Army.
Carlson is a graduate of Purdue University where she pursued a career in Nursing. She and her late husband, Neal, have impacted Kosciusko County in untold ways according to Envoy Ken Locke, Administrator.
She was part of the committee that formed Home Health Care and Hospice services in the early 1970s. She is active member of 1st United Methodist Church and other ventures in the community.
Joy is a Past President of the Women’s Auxiliary and has volunteered for Angel Tree, Annual Fruit and Nut Sale, Soup and Pie Luncheon, Donut Day and other events over time.
She was instrumental in establishing The Salvation Army “Friends of the Army” Fund of Kosciusko County with the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
Carlson is the third recipient of the Award previously presented to Mazie Alexander and Linda Scott. Major Char Hall, Divisional Secretary from Indianapolis, attended to confer the Award.
