INDIANAPOLIS (Network Indiana) — Hoosiers didn’t spend as much money on sports gambling in June, compared to May. However, revenue went up last month.
That’s revenue for the sportsbooks and the state of Indiana. “The sportsbooks pay out the winners, collect on the losers, and the amount that they have left is revenue,” explains Jessica Welman with PlayIndiana.com.
Essentially, it means more people in Indiana lost bets and lost money in June. The $25.5 million in revenue last month turns in to just over two million dollars for Indiana in taxes.
