On Nov. 13, 2020, New Jersey gambling regulators released figures showing that the state's red-hot sports betting market had set a new national record for the most money wagered on sports for the third month in a row, taking in over $803 million worth of bets. INDIANAPOLIS (Network Indiana) — Hoosiers didn’t spend as much money on sports gambling in June, compared to May. However, revenue went up last month.

That’s revenue for the sportsbooks and the state of Indiana. “The sportsbooks pay out the winners, collect on the losers, and the amount that they have left is revenue,” explains Jessica Welman with PlayIndiana.com.

Essentially, it means more people in Indiana lost bets and lost money in June. The $25.5 million in revenue last month turns in to just over two million dollars for Indiana in taxes.
