You’ll be seeing people in yellow vests at intersections, street corners, and storefronts throughout Warsaw on Friday and Saturday.

That’s because they are volunteering for the annual Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive that has raised over $520,000 for disability services in Kosciusko County since 1986.

Chuck Whitcraft with Knights of Columbus tells News Now Warsaw’s IN the Know its a rewarding experience.

“The generosity of the people is just overwhelming. The generosity of the businesses that have already donated to this drive is just overwhelming each year and is truly, truly appreciated by all,” he explains.

Last year they gave out almost 15,000 Tootsie Rolls. This year they’d like to hand out between 17,000 and 18,000. There is no suggested donation amount in exchange for a Tootsie Roll, but at will donations are appreciated.

All of the funds raised remain in the community and are donated to Special Olympics, Magical Meadows and Cardinal Services.
