Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office SUV damaged while assisting Wabash, Whitley with pursuit

A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office SUV was damaged while assisting officers from Wabash and Whitley counties in a pursuit Thursday afternoon.

The pursuit started in Wabash County and ended in Whitley County, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Chris Francis, but he did not know why the pursuit began.

No information was available from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision involving the KCSO SUV occurred at 4:48 p.m. Thursday at 301 S. CR 400W, Columbia City, according to a Winona Lake Police Department accident report.

The pursuit entered a field on the east side of Whitley County Road 400W.

A blue 2010 Mazda 6I turned into Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Rager’s SUV, causing front-end damage. Rager, 45, did not report any injuries.

Damage was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.
