Kosciusko machinist pipeline of new workers expanded with OCRA Grant

The Office of Community and Rural Affairs, OCRA, announced two winners of the underemployed workforce training grant – Wabash County was our applicant for a joint Wabash-Kosciusko-Huntington Grant.

With Work One matching funding, this provides $100,000 of scholarship grants for 25 underemployed Kosciusko County Residents to complete machinist training at Ivy Tech Warsaw. The KEDCo Board had committed the required $20,000 local match which covers other costs associated with promoting and administering the program.

“This is a great addition to our previously announced ‘early college’ year two machining program at Ivy Tech in collaboration with the Warsaw Area Career Center,” noted KEDCo Chairman Dan Brown. “With 14 students in that program and another 25 in the OCRA program, we are well on the way to create the new machinist pipeline our employers need in Kosciusko County.”

This program is aimed at underemployed workers over 18 years who reside in Kosciusko County and want a skilled job with greater pay and benefits than they currently have”, noted George Robertson KEDCo President.

Information on how to apply will be released shortly but persons interested in this program can e-mail KEDCo to be placed on the list of potential scholarship recipients.
