Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert recognized two officers during Tuesday’s county commissioners meeting for their life-saving efforts in the county jail.

Goshert presented officer Daisha Dove and Cpl. Kyle Cooper with plaques for their effort in saving an inmate who attempted suicide by hanging. Goshert didn’t give any specific details about the incident, but had high praise for those who work at the jail.

“They’re on the front line every day. They are making sure the inmates are safe and that their medical needs are being met,” Goshert said. “They deal with 300 inmates every day and there are only six or seven of them per shift. They are the ones who are forgotten and are probably the most important ones – they’re taking care of our inmates. It’s a huge job that they undertake.

“Because of their heroic efforts, they saved a life.”
