A lawsuit was filed May 1 against Wawasee Community School Corp. and Joshua Vallejo in Kosciusko Superior Court 1.

The plaintiff filed for damages, stating, according to court documents, she was a member of the school’s volleyball team when Vallejo was the team’s coach. Between November 2013 and February 2014, court documents claim Vallejo molested her. She claims she suffered mental and physical damages and expects to have future pain and suffering.

Wawasee Community School Corp. was named in the suit since Vallejo was employed as a volleyball coach by them and was “performing nondelegable duties.”

Vallejo was sentenced in March to six years with three years suspended for probation for sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class B felony. He pleaded guilty to the charge and in accordance to the plea agreement, a Class D felony child solicitation charge was dropped.

According to court documents in that case, the plaintiff sat down with an Indiana State Police detective and described several times when sex acts were either discussed or performed with Vallejo.
