WPD Press Release – On Wednesday evening, September 16, 2015, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Warsaw Police were notified of a vehicle that had left the scene of an accident near downtown Warsaw. Warsaw PD located a red Chevrolet Trailblazer near US30 and State Road 15 that matched the vehicle description that left the scene. A WPD officer attempted to stop the Trailblazer which then fled from the officer. A short pursuit ensued traveling eastbound on Anchorage Road, crossing US30, and eventually turning south on Husky Trail. The driver then jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving and fled on foot. The officer chased the suspect giving loud verbal commands that were ignored. When the suspect tripped and continued to flee, the officer deployed his Taser and the suspect finally complied without further incident.
The suspect, Brian Ivey, 29 years old, of Warsaw, was taken into custody. The investigation determined that Ivey was wanted for a felony parole violation out of Georgia and had no valid driver’s license. The victim’s vehicle, that Ivey struck, sustained less than $2,500 in damage. The Trailblazer, that Ivey jumped out of, continued southbound on Husky Trail until it struck a guardrail resulting in under $10,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
Brian Ivey was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on the felony parole violation, felony resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, failure to stop after an accident, and operator never licensed. He is being held on no bond.
Warsaw Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Winona Lake Police Department, and Lutheran EMS Kosciusko.
