NORTH WEBSTER — LITE Recovery has begun distributing Naloxboxes to make anti-overdose drugs more readily available to the public.

The Milford-based group received money from Health First Kosciusko in March to purchase 17 Naloxboxes from Overdose Lifeline.

The objective is to provide easy access to Narcan throughout the county. Up until just recently, there have only been 4 boxes with easy access to the public.

LITE seeks to place a Naloxbox in each Township in Kosciusko County this year. Additionally, LITE will be responsible for checking and maintaining each box on a weekly basis.

One of the boxes was recently provided and will be mounted at the North Webster Fire Station in Tippecanoe Township.

Currently, the overdose deaths in Kosciusko County are lower than in years past.

As of Monday, eight people had died from overdoses.

Tammy Cotton, executive director with LITE, said it is their goal to continue to see a decline in overdose deaths as the boxes continue to be distributed and installed.
