Longtime banker John Elliott passes away

WARSAW — Former Warsaw resident John Elliott, a retired banker and longtime fixture in the community, has died.

Elliott died Sunday in South Carolina where he had moved about three years ago. He was 78.

Elliott worked for Frist National Bank in Warsaw for many years and later worked for 1st Source Bank and had a role in opening the bank’s new downtown office in 2016.

There are plans for a memorial service this weekend in Winona Lake, but details have not been announced.
