Malik Zaire granted release from Notre Dame…with conditions

Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire will be playing at a different college next year. However, we know where he won’t be playing.

As part of his release, Zaire won’t be allowed to play for anyone on Notre Dame’s 2017 schedule except for the University of North Carolina, according to ESPN.

Next year, Notre Dame will play Temple, Georgia, Boston College, Michigan State, Miami of Ohio, UNC, USC, NC State, Wake Forest, Miami (Florida), Navy and Stanford.

Zaire is set to graduate in December and will transfer to a graduate school immediately afterwards. He still has a year of college football eligibility. Zaire is considering Florida, Pitt, and Wisconsin, according to ESPN. However, he was also considering Michigan State, which is one of the teams on Notre Dame’s schedule next season.

Zaire was the Music City Bowl MVP in 2014 and started the first two games of the 2015 season. However, he broke his right ankle, couldn’t play the rest of the season, and DeShone Kizer had surpassed him on the depth chart by the time he returned this past season.
