Man arrested after hitting woman in front of her young daughter

A Pierceton man is behind bars after he pushed a woman down and hit her in front of her young daughter.

According to the affidavit of probable cause released by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office, on November 26, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy responded to a domestic dispute in the Barbee lakes area.

When the officer arrived he spoke with a female victim who told him she saw Christopher Wiggs, 33, of 6913 E. South Barbee Dr., Pierceton, urinate on her son’s bed.  The woman said the last thing she remembered was asking Wiggs what he was doing, then the next thing she knew she was one the floor experiencing pain to the right side of her face.

Officers spoke with the victim’s young daughter who said she went into the living room after hearing her mother and Wiggs arguing. Then, she saw Wiggs push her mother to the floor and hit her on her back.

When Wiggs realized the child called 911, he packed his personal belongings and left the residence.

Wiggs was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 on charges of domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor. His bond was set at $5,250.
