Man arrested in Louisiana for Warsaw robbery, beating

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a man on charges of robbery with serious bodily injury and battery causing serious bodily injury, both felony charges.

Valente Ceballos, Jr., 32, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail Sunday evening.  He is being held on a $20,250 bond.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, on November 1, 2015 a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer responded to a battery call. The officer found a victim with a swollen right eye and multiple contusions to the forehead and back of the head.

The victim told police he was sleeping at a friend’s residence when a female and three males entered the residence. The female began slapping the victim in the face to wake him and when he awoke the three males began hitting him in the head and on the face repeatedly. The group stole the victim’s wallet containing $500 and his IPhone.

Police spoke with a witness at the residence that identified Valente Ceballos, Jr. as one of the three men involved in the beating.  Police interviewed one of the other men involved the attack who advised he was upset with the victim, because the victim had spent the night before with his daughter.

As a result of the beating,  the victim was transported to the intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he was found to have internal bleeding behind his right eye and loss of vision in that eye. Testing was also conducted to check for hemorrhaging on the brain.

Ceballos was previously arrested in Donaldsonville, LA on a theft charge. When officers ran his information, the warrant from Kosciusko County came through. Officers from Kosciusko County traveled to Louisiana to pick him up, according to 1st Sgt. Chad Hill, KCSD Public Information Officer.
