The discovery of what is believed to be an old pineapple hand grenade at a home in Warsaw prompted the response of the bomb squad.

Members of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and the Elkhart Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit went to a home in the 200 block of North County Road 175 East, where they say a man was going through old family boxes and came upon the grenade.

Bomb technicians performed an x-ray on the object and learned that it did contain a live ordinance. Police took the grenade and placed it into a containment unit and took it away for disposal.
