Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting Death Of Toddler

 

A 19-year-old man charged in the death of a South Bend toddler pleaded guilty on Monday, April 27.

Tarez Buchanon was set for trial this week after he was charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal gang enhancement in the April 2014 death of 2-year-old John Swoveland Jr.

The child died when he was struck by a stray bullet from a gunfight between two rival gangs several blocks away from the Campeau Street home where he was playing.

Buchanon is one of eight people charged in connection with the crime.
