Middlebury Man Arrested After Leading Police On Chase

A dramatic police chase through two counties late Monday night ended with the arrest of a Middlebury man. The pursuit began in Elkhart County. By the time it ended in Noble County, police say the suspect hit two squad cars. Investigators say 31 year-old Jonathan Gaby was intoxicated when he led police on the chase along State Road 5. He collided with a LaGrange County police car while dodging stop sticks and later struck stop sticks and hit a Noble County officer's vehicle. They say Gaby tried to fight as officers closed in. Officers then tased him to get him under control. He was taken to Goshen Hospital due to his highly intoxicated level, then booked into the Elkhart County Jail. Gaby has an extensive criminal past including arrests on domestic battery, operating while intoxicated, theft and resisting arrest.
