More teachers saying no to 2021 standardized tests

(Network Indiana) — Nearly 40 northeast Indiana school superintendents want changes to this year’s standardize tests.

In a letter sent to Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner and Governor Eric Holcomb, the superintendents say ILEARN testing is a health and safety risk for students and staff.

The superintendents also agreed with a letter sent by nine Marion County superintendents, who said that schools could use this time to catch up on the instruction they’ve missed out. The superintendents want the state to at least reconsider the requirements of the ILEARN test, to accommodate in-person students and families who do not want to send their student to school.
