Nancy L. Derry

Nancy L. Derry, age 77 of Chapman Lake, passed away at home on Friday, November, 26, 2021 at 12:27 am. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death.

Born in Warsaw on September 9, 1944, Nancy was the daughter of Russell and Imogene (Irvine) Simmons. She was a 1962 graduate of Warsaw High School and later went on to graduate from Parkview School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. Nancy was genuinely proud of her status as a registered nurse; she cared for many families in the community and worked for both Millers Merry Manor and Grace Village in her tenure. A true caregiver at heart, Nancy worked for the state for some time, administering nurses aide competency programs through Ivy Tech. She was the director of nursing for both Miller’s Merry Manor and Grace Village where she worked to setup Grace Village’s healthcare unit. Nancy was a selfless, caring person at heart and lived her career to fruition until the Lord gently took her hand on Friday.

More personally, Nancy loved to play cards and enjoyed winters at the Kove Estates, Osteen, Florida. She was a proud twin sister and was always positive, friendly and selfless. She loved her family and truly loved time spent with them, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed BINGO, traveling and making treats for her family. She was a longtime member of Warsaw Community Church and Dutchtown Brethren Church. She loved Chapman Lake and her neighbors there.

On January 16, 1965, Nancy was married to James C. Derry whom most know at “Jim” or “Jimbo.” Jim survives at home on Chapman Lake. Also surviving with memories to cherish are three children: David Derry and fiancĂ©e Terri Mitchell of Warsaw, Michael Derry of Orlando, FL, and Barbra Martz of Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Keylah Derry, Kyal Derry, Kelsay Derry, Kolt Derry, Madison Martz, Mackenzie Martz, and Mason Martz – all of Warsaw. In addition, many great-grandchildren survive as does her twin sister Lynn (Joe) Wilkey of Warsaw. She was preceded in passing by a brother, Jack Heeter.

A Life Celebration® will be held at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 7 p.m with Pastor Jeff Pfeiffer of Warsaw Community Church officiating.
