Nappanee man sentenced for killing passenger during 2017 crash

A 12 year prison sentence has been handed down to a man who killed his passenger after crashing during a police pursuit.

24-year-old Tanner Grove was convicted of resisting law enforcement causing death, which carried a maximum 16 year term. Two years are suspended, and a judge ordered Grove to serve two years probation after his release.

On February 2nd, 2017, he crashed his vehicle in the Herschberger Ditch in St. Joseph County while fleeing from a Nappanee officer.

His passenger, Justin Dean, died at a hospital from his injuries.
