A Nappanee woman is being charged with neglect of a dependent after several incidences from early October through early April involving her child.
One incident happened in mid-January, when police said 22 year-old Casey Nicole Thornton called police and said her child was missing. She told officers she had fallen asleep and when she woke, her child was gone. The child was found a half mile from his home, wearing pajama pants, a long sleeve shirt, shoes and no socks and was shaking due to cold winter weather.
During the most recent incident in early April, Thornton reported her child missing again. Her child was located at a neighbor’s home, safe and sound. Thornton is being held in the Kosciusko County jail on a $10,000 bond.
