New Carlisle Reaction To Firefighter’s Death

You don't need to travel too far into the community of New Carlisle to get a sense of support for the New Carlisle Fire Department after Assistant Fire Chief Jamie Middlebrook died in the line of duty. From prayer and thoughts by residents like that man, to businesses collecting donations for the family and flowers left at the fire station, the people of New Carlisle are in mourning. Middlebrook died in the blaze at K-Fex Excavating late Tuesday night. The coroner says he died of blunt force trauma and a broken neck he suffered when the roof of the building collapsed on top of him. ABC-57 News reports state and federal investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.
