The new security measures for the entrance of the Justice Building are underway and should be finished by Monday.

County Administrator Marsha McSherry provided an update on the construction Thursday and said the equipment will be installed today.

Also waiting to be installed is the sliding glass door and sliding window to come in, and installation of a countertop.

The new bulletproof glass security enclosure was something the county’s been looking at doing for a while to improve security, McSherry said.

The county was able to seize on those plans after receiving a grant to pay 100% of the nearly $140,000 cost.

When people arrive to the Justice Building, they will still have to get their temperature taken at the kiosk, then will put any packages or purses through the window for scanning. People will go through a scanner and pick up their package on the other side.

This project was done in collaboration with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
