New School Zone Signs Discussed for New School Year

These are two models being considered to be put outside of Harrison Elementary School.

Warsaw city officials discussed new school zone speed boards at the Traffic Safety Commission meeting Wednesday.

Street Superintendent Jeff Beeler says the city has been researching the new signs that would feature a speed board and flashing yellow lights on top or flashing LED lights within the speed sign. The costs of the signs would be $13,000-$16,000 per set of two depending on which model is chosen.

These signs would be constructed along Husky Trail near Harrison Elementary School and could potentially be established throughout the city in every school zone. Mayor Joe Thallemer says the speed boards are critical to make drivers aware of their speed when school zones are active.
