North Manchester’s “Mr. Dave’s” legacy to continue

Mr. Dave’s in North Manchester has been a staple for the community since it opened in in 1962.

Sadly, the family owned and operated restaurant known for its breaded tenderloin closed in May due to illness in the family.

Originally opened by Dave Clapp and his wife Shirley, the restaurant was run by Dave’s son Kevin and his wife Tina until its closing. Its been recognized as the “best in Wabash County” and has been featured in numerous dining guides, books, and magazines.

The North Manchester Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday that Mr. Dave’s legacy will live on. The restaurant has been purchased by BalPie Singh of Fort Wayne.

The original owner of Mr. Dave’s seems happy with the decision.

“Singh plans to continue with the same menu as previously offered,” Dave told the Chamber of Commerce. “Singh is a hard worker, and has run a large restaurant in Utah
before moving here. He is very energetic and he is going to do very well.”
