The Notre Dame Security Police have a new name.
The department will officially be renamed the Notre Dame Police Department on March 1.
It’s part of an effort to bring clarity for both the campus community and partners in law enforcement and reinforce the department as a sworn police force.
There will also be some changes to the uniform. Outreach and engagement coordinators will manage community outreach and crime prevention programs, including personal defense, sexual assault prevention and other training sessions for self-defense.
Safety and inspection technicians will perform routine checks across campus.
