Webster Community Public Library is gearing up for a summer full of discovery when its youth Summer Discovery Program kicks off June 1. This year’s theme is Tails and Tales and will focus on learning about the animal kingdom through reading clubs, special events and fun educational activities planned for every day of the week.

Youth, ages birth through high school, can sign up for summer reading clubs starting June 1 and earn prizes for every four hours of reading completed. Every Wednesday features an entertaining show at 10:30 a.m. in the library event room. Kids don’t have to be registered for summer reading clubs to attend the special Wednesday events. Door open 15 minutes prior to show time. Arrive early to ensure a seat.

Appointments to read to a therapy dog will be available every Monday and Wednesday, Family Story Time on Tuesdays, Local Tales presentations every Thursday, Friday Family Food and Fun classes or Make It/Take It crafts on Fridays, plus family movie matinees 2 p.m. June 10 and June 24 and Lego Time 10:30 a.m. June 12.

For times and details, pick up a schedule of Summer Discovery events in the youth department or view online on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us.

On the adult side, registrations are being accepted for the Knit 1 Crochet 2 class 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1. This is a group of yarn crafters that meet the first Tuesday each month to work on yarn projects. The June class will be crocheting a shawl together or participants can bring their own projects to work on. The class is free, but participants need to bring two balls of Caron® Ripple Cakes yarn and size U.S. H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook to class. To register, sign up at the circulation desk or call 574-834-7122.
