Occupants escape accidental Syracuse fire thanks to barking dog

A barking dog is credited with saving its owner from a house fire in Syracuse.

The home’s occupants were already out when the Turkey Creek Fire Territory arrived on North Rainey Road West in the wee hours of Friday morning.

The blaze was brought under control within an hour thanks to help from the North Webster, Benton Township, and Milford Fire Departments.

Though the fire has been ruled accidental, the cause is still under investigation.

No injuries were reported. The damage is estimated at $110,000.
