The Indiana State Police is investigating an incident over the weekend that started with Warsaw police in pursuit of an Ohio man in vehicles and ended with officers firing their guns.
A news release from authorities says 37-year old Lance Walter of Mansfield, Ohio, was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and attempted murder.
The news release says a Warsaw officer initiated a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle around 3:30am Saturday morning, but the officer says the vehicle fled the scene.
Officers pursued the vehicle to State Road 13 near the intersection of CR 150 North. Police say the suspect crashed into two police vehicles, injuring one officer who treated and released.
The driver attempted to run from where the chase ended, but a K-9 was deployed and the foot chase ended. A passenger in the vehicle was also injured but was treated and released.
Walter is being held on $55,500.
