WARRSAW — One person was flown by helicopter to a hospital with injuries Sunday after a house fire, and two dogs perished in the fire.
Plain Township Fire Department Chief Derek Tenney said they were called out to the fire at 8 EMS C27C Lane, Warsaw, in Plain Township, at approximately 3:05 p.m. Sunday.
One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was flown to a hospital due to suffering from smoke inhalation and burns. Two dogs in the home perished, he said.
“It was pretty intense, that’s for sure,” Tenney described the fire. “It made its way through the house quickly, but we got it stopped.”
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 45 to 60 minutes, Tenney estimated. He was still on scene waiting for the state fire marshal and Board Up at 5:45 p.m.
Tenney estimated the house probably will be a total loss and there was a lot of smoke damage to it as well.
The fire remains under investigation.
Along with Plain Township, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory provided manpower and Milford provided a full assist.
No firefighters were injured in battling the blaze.
County records indicate the property is owned by Steven E. and Penny Thomas.
