Park Board Reviews Five-Year Master Plan

Warsaw Park Board reviewed the timeline for the five-year master plan for the parks system during its meeting Tuesday,
Survey Monkey was activated April 19 to provide an opportunity for residents to participate in an online survey and let the parks department know concerns and desires regarding Warsaw parks.
“As of today we have 102 responses,” said Larry Plummer, Warsaw parks superintendent.
The deadline for the survey is June 15. It  can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com
Results from the survey will be presented to the board at its June 21 meeting.
In other business Jennifer Blair, Warsaw, attended the meeting and requested the park board prohibit smoking at Central Park concerts or consider prohibiting smoking in all Warsaw Parks.
Blair said she has asthma and cannot attend the concerts like she wants to due to people smoking.
Smoking is prohibited in Winona Lake Parks currently and an announcement is made before each Warsaw concert that smokers are advised to smoke on the perimeter of the park.
The board will consult with Mike Valentine, city attorney, on a resolution that will need to be forwarded to city council for approval.
The board approved purchasing new playground and exercise equipment for Lucerne Park.
The board heard from Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer that Warsaw is in the running with two other communities for Stellar Community.
The board approved removing the playground equipment at Lucerne Park and tearing down Gladys Ramsey Shelter.
