Parks Department Lists Several Upcoming Events

Free Concert Friday
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will host a free concert at the Central Park Plaza at 7 p.m. Friday.
Don’t miss out on Kris Hitchcock for some boot stompin’ country.
The band starts playing at 7 p.m. and will play until 8:30 p.m.
Bring your lawn chair or favorite blanket for the outdoor concert. Sponsors include Indiana Arts Commission, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 107.3 WRSW, Willie 103.5 and 1480 News Now!

Free Kids Fishing Derby Saturday
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual free Kids Fishing Derby from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Center Lake Beach.
Registration is free and open to ages 3 to 16 years of age. Register at the Park Department Office from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or the day of the fishing derby at Center Lake Beach.
Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish and more for various age groups (3 to 16 years old). The first 100 kids will receive a gift bag and does not include fishing pole. Participants must bring their own pole and bait. It is catch-and-release fishing only.

Parks Dept. Hosting Coffee & Canvas Program
Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Coffee & Canvas Program at 6:30 p.m. June 21.
Create a canvas masterpiece while you sip your choice of coffee beverage at the Center Lake Pavilion. The $15 registration fee includes all supplies, instruction and beverage. It is for ages 13 and up. Registration ends June 14.

Free Swimming Lessons Offered
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will offer free swimming lessons at Center Lake in two, two-week sessions.
Registration is required by one week prior to the start of each session.
Register only if you plan to attend most or all of the session dates. Each session is limited to 10 participants and is first-come, first served.
Session 1 is June 20 to July 1. Session 2 is July 18 to 29.
Class times are 10:30 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to noon, 4 to 4:30 p.m. and 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Community Canoeing Saturday
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is offering free community canoeing from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the east side of the swimming pier, behind the pavilion, Center Lake beach.
No registration is required.
An annual waiver and rules sheet must be signed by each participant. It must be signed by parent for anyone under age 18.
Canoes are available for community use. Canoes are first-come, first served and may be used in timed increments. All equipment and life vests will be provided. All participants will be briefed on safety measures prior to canoeing. All canoeing will be supervised by staff.
The next community canoeing dates and time are: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20; noon to 4 p.m. June 25; noon to 4 p.m. July 16; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18; noon to 4 p.m. July 30; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 1; noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 13.
