NORTH WEBSTER — Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be conducting seal coat operations on State Road 13 between North Webster and Syracuse.

Work on the seal coating is scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, June 4 and June 5. This work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

Through traffic should seek an alternate route while work is taking place. Local traffic should exercise caution and follow traffic directions carefully.

During operations, existing pavement is coated with liquid asphalt, which seals cracks and provides waterproof protection. This extends the service life of the roadway and lowers maintenance costs. Once the roadway is coated with liquid asphalt, loose aggregate is applied and excess material is swept from the roadway. After a curing period, crews will return to fog seal the new driving surface and apply pavement markings.

INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.
