Roughly 100 people showed up in Warsaw’s Central Park on Saturday evening for a peaceful protest.

The group was part of the national movement for the outcry of the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed in Minneapolis by former police officer Derek Chauvin, who kneeled on his neck for nine minutes.

The organizer, Maria Medina, said the gathering was a last minute collaboration, but she was overwhelmed by the response it got:

She said having it in a small community like Warsaw is just as important as it is elsewhere.

People that remained toward the end of the protest Saturday evening used the last nine minutes, laying on their stomach, signifying the time George Floyd was on the ground, under the knee of (former) Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. (Photo: Nick Deranek/News Now Warsaw)
