WARSAW — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a traffic accident early Friday morning.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to Zimmer Road, south of Zimmer Lane, for a vehicular crash involving a pedestrian at about 6:30 a.m.
The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that David Gwaltney, 48, of Albion, was walking westbound on a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a southbound Cadillac operated by Ernie Morrison, 63, of Plymouth.
Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Gwaltney was pronounced deceased at the scene by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team responded to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Responding Agencies: Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kosciusko County Coroner.
