Pete Thorn Center in Warsaw could be used for future emergency needs

The Pete Thorn Center in Warsaw could be used for emergency housing in the future.

The possibility comes after last week’s polar vortex, during which the city opened up the facility as a warming center.

It was announced during the Board of Works meeting that the center is tentatively being considered for similar purposes moving forward.

Officials cited the showers, kitchen, and ability to house large numbers of people as the reasons the site works well during emergencies.
