Pierceton Elementary School Principal Mike McClain tendered his resignation at the Whitko School Board meeting Monday at Whitko High School’s media center.

A letter of resignation was read by Superintendent Dr. Brandon Penrod which states the resignation is effective June 30, indicating McClain will finish the school year.

“I would like to thank the Pierceton community and the Whitko community in particular for all the opportunities afforded me as principal.

“I have truly enjoyed being part of the community  almost from the first minute I stepped through the door. The community’s support for the school is at a tremendous level right now and I look forward to seeing great things to come.

“To my fellow Whitko educators, thank you for the opportunity to work alongside you. I feel better equipped and empowered to handle opportunities that are in store for me in the next stage of life.

“I’ve learned so much about what it means to be a champion for kids as we educate kids together. Our team created a culture that made it a joy to come to work every morning and I will miss you all tremendously.”

“We appreciate your time, your diligence and your effort,” Penrod said.

McClain came to Whitko from Warsaw Community Schools, where he taught at Lakeview Middle School. He has been the Pierceton Elementary School principal since 2015 and was employed as the Whitko High School assistant principal from 2013 to 2015.
