A Pierceton man is facing charges after trying to go back into his burning residence.

30-year-old Shane Skeens was booked Sunday on charges of obstructing a firefighter performing duties, battery, and resisting law enforcement.

Skeens reportedly became upset with a Pierceton Police officer who would not allow him to go back into a home burning in the area of Third and Tower Streets.

He is accused of biting the officer’s hand and spitting on him.

Meanwhile, the home and its contents sustained over $160,000 in damage.
