Pierceton Woman Receives Restitution from Crash with Deliveryman

After being hit by a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver in 2011, a Pierceton resident sought $150,000 in restitution.
On March 21, 2011, Jerri Townsend, Pierceton, was driving on a Warsaw county road when she was hit by Scott Sanburn, who delivered pizza for Domino’s, a KB Pizza Inc. affiliate.
Townsend was represented by Glaser & Ebbs attorneys Jennifer McKibben and Sarah Reser in Kosciusko County Circuit Court on Oct. 27 and 28, Judge Michael Reed presiding. Townsend received $150,000 compensation as the verdict.
Townsend suffered a significant neck injury from the accident. KB Pizza initially offered $12,000 restitution, which did not appeal to Townsend. Townsend’s doctor advised that neck surgery was needed. Townsend has a degenerative neck condition that accentuated her injury. The accident was so severe that both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
McKibben said that four years is a common amount of time for civil litigations to process and come through.
